playing games and running outside and making summery treats (rice krispie bars, icecream with fruit, anything grilled, etc...)

getting freckly and tan(ish) lying on the hot slats of our deck
reading books all afternoon
having random dance parties to Marry You and We Are Young (which just came on pandora and I am now jamming to it) and Lakehouse
stopping by walmart to pick up fishing gear

painting our toenails pinks and purples and blues
eating fruit until it comes out of our ears
and subsequently finishing off a whole watermelon in a day

making lists and prepping for next week
watching our sweet neighbor baby emma

her squishy face! oh my. i can't handle her squishy face.
drinking tea and coffee and homemade lemonade
so mostly just summery stuff
which is fine by me.
we've also been getting ready for woodland
(eight days!!!)
which has kept us busy
in a good way.
i'm a bit tired because i went to bed late and
i've been getting up at 5:30 every morning (okay...ALMOST every morning)
i work out for an hour and then have breakfast.
i luck out because then i get the good food. y'know, big family stuff. ;)

another benefit of getting up early is
being awake just as the sun comes up
i had my Bible time on the porch today,
munching on an apricot and eating blueberries like there's no tomorrow
the sun made dappled patterns on the stone from the leaves
birds were chirping
AND THERE WERE NO MOSQUITOES
it was beautiful

it's been a bit quiet lately
because we have been enjoying the weather
(not the mosquitoes though
at nighttime, the world is teeming with them
evil little monsters)
and doing summery stuff
which is just the best

summer, you may just be my favorite
what have you been up to lately?

beautiful photos, Hannah! life sounds great right now :)

ReplyDeleteHi Hannah! Love this post. Perfectly captures the picture of your family and these beautiful months of summer! My family and I live in humid, sweaty Georgia and to really enjoy the day getting up early is the only best time.
ReplyDeleteYa'll could get a few chickens, we have 40 something and they keep the misquotes down a lot (read: pretty much zero) and I'm OK with that!!! : D
In Jesus,
Allison

Well tomorrow, I'm going to our local rodeo, and the next day I'm hitting up the beach!
ReplyDeleteAhhh, yes. Squishy faces. Can't help but love those! I'm so excited this Summer for beaches, picnics, and hanging out with little (squishy-faced) friends. :)
ReplyDeleteYeeep sounds like me. Except I don't workout for an hour a day anymore. GEEZ! You make me want to get into that good stuff again. Beautiful pictures. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd summer is definitely my favorite. Sort of why I want to move to Croatia.
Man oh man, that Mark ii takes beautiful photographs! Oh my goodness. :)
ReplyDeleteEmma is adorable... I love babies. A lot!
Summer is excellent, and I am loving your blog, Hannah. I've been working and my best friend is coming to visit today.
Hope you are doing well!
You almost make waking up early sound worthwhile. I like the concept, but when 5:30 rolls around, all I want to do is roll over and go back to sleep. Summer is definitely one of my favorite times of year as well. I like the simplicity and the not-having-to-do-anything the best.

Love these sweet shots of your siblings! :) I'm getting ready to go to summer camp for the night. I'm training to be a counselor for the first time. It's like my third home, and I can't wait to go back. My first counseling session is next weekend, and I'm both excited and nervous!

ReplyDeleteasfdjhdkf. I'm in love with all these pictures.
ReplyDeletei just love this post. it captures the essence of a lot about summer.
ReplyDeleteYour summer sounds... well, delicious. It sounds somewhat similar to mine... particularly in the fruit-eating arena. I've singlehandedly downed four pints of blueberries in the past week.
ReplyDeleteFantastic photos, as usual. :)
xx.
Lindsey
p.s. I was thinking about you the other day because we left the midwest and we're visiting our old friends in Minnesota at the moment... It's gorgeous, but I do not envy the mosquito problems you must deal with ;)
oh, this looks like so much fun. fruit is the best.
ReplyDeleteMmmmmmmm, this summer is AMAZING isn't it!? Seriously, life seems to get better year by year. ;)
ReplyDeleteThere's no need for me to state more words, actually. You've already captured it all in this post. Just beautiful!
