a leapsnow day.

March 1, 2012

Wednesday, we were snowed in. I woke up to about eight inches and more was falling fast. We couldn't get out of our driveaway, schools all around us were cancelled, so we took a snow day (if you are/were a homeschooler, you will know the magnitude of this statement. I kid, I kid. Slightly. ;). After spending the morning in pajamas, I shoveled the driveaway (still in pajamas), had a five minute snowball fight (which resulted in getting hit in the face with a packed ball of fat water), and tried to regain feeling in my face and fingers.

Ignoring weather warnings, Hayley and I met for coffee in the afternoon, and we chatted for a couple hours over mochas long cooled. I might have also consumed half of a bar of dark chocolate. It's debatable. Later Ellie (check her out, give her a follow, and say hello! or just say, "wait, I blanked!" she'll get it) and I spent several hours skyping and laughing like crazy. Love both of those girls and so glad to have been able to talk!

(Oh, and random tidbit, but when I talk, I talk with my hands. I can't just say, "that's hilarious!" I have to make crazy hand gestures that are similar to a form of my own sign language. These girls talk with their hands too. So we get each other. It's like a prerequisite for friendships -- must talk with hands. Agaaaaain, I kid. ;)

Did you get hit with a blast of snow? Or is it spring where you live? And do you talk with your hands? If so, we should definitely be friends. ;)

  1. I actually really wish it snowed at my house, but yesterday it was about 60 outside. Love the pictures!

  2. You had a snow day!? Whoa! Totally unheard of in the homeschooler world! hehe kidding. We haven't had a snow day all year. We've barely had 2 inches at one time all year. I'm excited for spring, but I'm disappointed with the "winter" we had. I wouldn't even call it winter, it was more like... the dead-slightly cold season.

Also, I talk with my hands all. the. time. I guess that means... we... are... friends? Ah! :)

Glad you had a blast on your snow day!

    okay. <3

  20. Oh yes, I always talk with my hands--and usually get teased about it lol. We haven't really had any snow at all where I come from. I'm not sure if I'm happy or sad about that haha. And as a homeschooler, I totally understand the magnitude of a snow day =D

  26. Love your photos. And can definitely appreciate your snow day fun. A day off school, a coffee date with a dear friend, and a skype date with a dear friend sounds so lovely.
And yes, I am one of those people that talks with their hands. I picked it up in speech class my freshmen year of high school and haven't stopped since. :) It makes conversations fun!

  29. Lovely snow! We haven't gotten any more than a *light* dusting where I live, and even that was a while ago. But I've been loving these 75-degree-clear-sunny days. :)

And I talk with my hands as well. :)

  30. here´s finally sunny after so many freezing days. it´s warm and i love it. you almost don´t need a coat anymore (which is crazy cause just some days ago we were covered in thick woolen scarfs, hats, gloves, boots and all that jazz) and just feeling the sun rays on your face it´s a wonderful and so long missed feeling.
    seems spring´s close!

anyway, they say it may snow again yet, and that´s cool, cause snow days are never enough for me! haha
you minnesotans are so lucky! ;)

    have a nice weekend, Hannah!
